How to install

  1. On your Android phone, open this page and tap Download APK.
  2. Open the downloaded file. Android will ask whether to allow installs from your browser. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
  3. Tap Install. When it finishes, open Offword and allow microphone access when asked.
  4. Optional: turn Allow from this source back off for your browser afterward.

Offword checks offword.app for new versions and tells you when one is available. Updates install over the existing app and keep your recordings.

Make sure it came from offword.app

Only install Offword from https://offword.app. Copies from other websites or file-sharing apps may be modified. Every release is signed with the same Offword key, so Android will refuse to install an update signed by anyone else over the real app.

To check a download by hand, compare its SHA-256 checksum with the one below.

Requirements

  • Android 9 (API 28) or newer.
  • Free storage for your recordings and for the speech model, which the app downloads on first launch.
  • An internet connection the first time, to download the speech model. After that, recording and transcription work offline.
