offword

Early public beta. Free to download, but expect poor accuracy today. During the beta, recordings, transcripts and feedback are uploaded to Offword's own server so the developer can improve the speech models. What is collected

Every word you say, written down on your own phone.

Offword records conversations and voice notes and turns them into text right on your Android phone. Transcription happens on the phone, with no cloud speech service. No account needed. Early beta note: while the beta runs, your recordings and transcripts are also uploaded to the developer for benchmarking (see below).

Free early beta. Android 9 or newer. iPhone later.

Recording on this phone, 00:24
  1. Okay, so the plan for Thursday is to move the site visit to the morning.

  2. That works. I can bring the revised drawings and the permit copy.

  3. Great. Can you also check whether the crane is booked for nine?

  4. I'll call them after this

How it works

Three steps, all on the phone in your pocket.

  1. Pick a microphone

Use the phone's own mic or a Bluetooth headset. A small wearable is on the way.

  2. Press record

Watch the transcript appear as you talk, or just capture the audio and let the phone transcribe it later.

  3. Read, copy, keep

Every recording is saved with its transcript on your phone. Delete it whenever you want.

Two ways to record

Choose per recording. You can switch any time.

Realtime

The transcript is written live while you speak. Good for meetings, interviews, and anything you want to read back right away.

Record only Pro

Capture now, transcribe later (a Pro feature, unlocked for everyone during the beta). Offword does the work while your phone is idle and charging, so long recordings cost you almost no battery during the day.

Record from wherever the sound is

  • Your phone's mic

Put the phone on the table and press record. Nothing else to buy.

  • Bluetooth headsets

Any Bluetooth headset or earbuds that work for calls. Handy when the phone stays in your pocket.

  • Offword wearable Soon

A small open-hardware Bluetooth wearable built on the open Omi protocol. It records for days on its own and syncs to your phone when you are back in range.

Private by design, with a beta exception

Transcription runs on your phone with an open-source speech model. There is no cloud transcription. The exception is the early beta: to benchmark and tune speech models, the app uploads every recording, its transcript and summary, your feedback, basic device information and transcription performance measurements to Offword's own server, and the developer may listen to and read them. Nothing is sold or shared. Uploads stop when the beta ends.

  • After the beta, audio and transcripts stay on your phone and nowhere else. During the beta they are also uploaded to Offword's server, kept until the beta ends or you ask for deletion.
  • No account. No sign-up. No email address.
  • No ads, no tracking, and no data sales, ever. Your data is deleted on request (support@offword.app).
  • Uninstall the app and everything stored on the phone is gone. Beta uploads are deleted when you ask.
